TWO POLICE OFFICERS IN SELF-ISOLATION

Two Kawartha Lakes Police Service constables are currently in self-isolation following an incident that occurred on March 28. 

The two officers may have been exposed to COVID-19 during the arrest of a man for a domestic assault.  The man was later charged with assault, mischief to property under $5,000, break and enter, theft under $,5000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance of bail.  The man was held in custody to attend a bail hearing on March 29. 

The two officers were members of the uniform branch of the Kawartha Lake Police Service at the time of the incident, but were removed from duty following their interaction with the accused.  The officers will remain off-duty in self isolation while they are tested for COVID-19.
