PROVINCE ORDERS THE SHUTDOWN OF NON-ESSENTIAL SERVICES
Premier Doug Ford delivered somber news today as he announced the mandatory closure for non-essential workplaces in Ontario to get “ahead of this virus.”
Tomorrow, the Premier has promised to release a list of those businesses considered to be among essential services that will remain open.
He said, “Food will remain on the shelves, Ontarians will have access to medications, and essential products. It means the power will still stay on, telecommunications will continue to run. But it also means that every Ontarian must do their part. If you can, please stay home. Only leave if necessary.”
The shutdown, for at least 14 days, is effective at 11:59pm on Tuesday, March 24.
Premier Ford said, “This decision was not made lightly and the gravity of this order does not escape me. But as I’ve said from day one, we will and we must take all steps necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19.”
