Healthy eating ideas for the entire family will be on the menu at upcoming Meet the Dietitian events taking place in Haliburton County and Kawartha Lakes.
The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is teaming up with local EarlyON Child and Family Centres to offer free Meet the Dietitian events. Geared to parents and caregivers of young children, the Health Unit's Registered Dietitian Laura Abbasi will provide tips for feeding infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The two-hour, interactive sessions will also cover healthy snacks for the whole family, while introducing the new and improved Canada Food Guide.
"When it comes to healthy eating and young children, there is a lot of misinformation to wade through and challenges that come with ensuring kids get the nutritional food they need to grow and thrive," Abbasi says. "The Meet the Dietitian event is designed to answer questions and concerns. It's also a forum to share reliable information, delicious recipes, and takeaway resources that will help parents and caregivers confidently serve up healthy food for their entire family."
The Meet the Dietitian events are set as follows:
In Haliburton on Thursday, March 14, from 10 am to noon at the Haliburton EarlyON Child and Family Centre (located at J.D. Hodgson Elementary School, 1020 Grass Lake Rd.).
In Janetville on Friday, March 15, from 10 am to noon at the Janetville EarlyON Child and Family Centre (located at Janetville United Church, 714 Janetville Rd.).
In Minden on Tuesday, March 19, from 10 am to noon at the Minden EarlyON Child and Family Centre (located at Archie Stouffer Elementary School, 12 Vintage Cres.).
